The Townsville & Districts Ceramics Show holds an annual event in which keen ceramicists can enter pieces for judging. At CraftExpo you can see the display featuring a wide variety of pieces from small through to large and bright through to mellow, plus a themed section entitled “Reef to Rainforest”.

The annual show also includes a section for handbuilding in clay which gives ceramic artists the opportunity to use their imagination and skill to make something out of the ordinary. There are many prizes to be won including Reserve Champion, Grand Champion and People’s Choice Award to be selected at CraftExpo.

The People’s Choice Award gives the community the opportunity to vote for a piece that is their favourite, that they believe should have won or for someone that they believe has tried their hardest. The piece with the most votes at the end of the show receives a prize and a trophy. All the votes are then placed into a draw to win.

The Kids Craft Village

The Kids Craft Village is an area where children can explore their artistic potential. The children can paint a bisque piece, paint a canvas, or ricepaper a bisque piece, and are able to take it home with them. Parents are welcome to stay and paint something of their own. The pieces range in size and price from $5 up to $20.
